Animal ID: LNL1053Buddy (male)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buddy is a very handsome, happy, and playful 1-1 1/2yr old male. He is also house broken and crate trained. (The puppy in him still wants to explore when home alone by chewing things he normally would not be allowed to chew, so we highly recommend crating him when you aren't home.) He is amazing with children! His foster mom said he rolls and plays with her kids. He allows them to stick their hands in his food bowl while he is eating.. maybe he thinks they're hungry, too! Buddy is also great with dogs of all shapes and sizes. He has been around rabbits and chickens, but only while they are caged. He has never barked or reacted to them in any ... (Read More)way, but he does chase uncaged birds and try to eat them. He is, however, terrified of men. He will let his guard down once he understands he is safe, but it still breaks our hearts he has this fear at such a young age.. *November 2016 update* at a recent event, Buddy was loving attention from woman AND men! :) (Less)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet our beautiful Kalei! She is about 2yrs old and 40-45lbs. Kalei came to our rescue moments before her death in a high kill shelter. She was so thankful and full of kisses! Not long after she was in foster care, her foster mommy noticed she was rapidly gaining weight and showing other tell-tale signs she was expecting. So, instead of her spay appointment, we made an appointment to confirm her pregnancy. Sure enough, Kalei was going to be a mommy!! On January 4, 2016, Kalei gave birth to ELEVEN healthy puppies!! (They all survived!) She was such a great mommy! Her puppies are now eleven months old and in their forever homes. We would love ... (Read More)to have the same thing happen for Kalei. Kalei's perfect home would be a home where she is the center of attention....she just can't get enough kisses and tummy rubs! She is housebroken and crate trained. She's spunky and excitable, but she is working with a trainer to learn self control :) (Less)

Animal ID: LNL1051Crackle (male)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We would like to officially welcome Crackle to The Island! Crackle is a young guy and weighs about 50lbs. His foster has gotten to know him very well and he has adjusted quickly to his new environment! When Crackle finds his forever family, they will be blessed to have him in their lives! Crackle is a little skittish when he hears a sudden noise- like a door slam or even a squeaky toy- so he may need some extra love on stormy nights, or nights there are fireworks! When he is scared or nervous, he ducks into his 'safe place' (his crate). He will hide in his crate if he does not know you until he decides you are okay in his book. He also ... (Read More)loves to sleep in his crate overnight! Crackle finds crates so comforting he even goes into his foster sister's crate! What a silly boy %9D%A4 His foster said once Crackle is familiar with his surroundings, he is very loving and likes to have run of the house! He is also protective of his foster mom, meaning he will bark at people or other dogs close to her property- and when he hears sirens, he howls as if he is mimicking their sound. One of Crackle's favorite things to do is chase lizards in the back yard. He even knows their hiding places (in his foster mom's potted plants). One time, he went on his lizard hunt only to find a cat in the yard! Crackle chased and followed the cat onto the compost pile and right over his foster mom's fence! ..oops! Now, when she sees he spotted the cat, she tells him no and he complies. Although he can clear a fence, Crackle respects the 24' barrier in his foster mom's kitchen doorway. He patiently waits on the other side until she is finished in the kitchen. Crackle is also very polite when it comes to sharing an almost empty ice cream carton with his foster sister, Duchess. He takes gentle licks and looks like he is savoring every little flavor. (Meanwhile, Duchess will devour it in one giant swipe of her tongue!) (Less)
